The Challenge
To develop a portal on behalf of Canllaw
Online providing information and services for the young people of
Wales and encouraging user generated content to showcase their
digital skills.
The Solution
Our creative team has developed a personalised
interface to information that encourages young people to interact
at a high level with other portal users. The bi-lingual site
(Welsh/English) encourages user participation and engagement with
online tools:
- Voting
- Games
- Upload/contribution facilities
- Online diary, CV and budget tool
- Web-based email
- Forums (discussion groups, chat rooms)
The Results
With 4,500 registered users, thousands of
content items including images, videos, audio tracks, stories etc
and 1.5 million page requests per annum, the portal has proven its
attraction and value to young people.
About Canllaw Online
Canllaw Online is a Wales-wide initiative working to transform
youth information services across Wales. The multi-million
pound Credu programme aims to fill a gap in the overall provision
of information and to create an entrepreneurial culture that
creatively uses ICT to develop Wales into a highly skilled
information society capable of competing in the global digital
economy.
