The Challenge
To create a best-of-breed NHS corporate
internet website to support the trust’s communication and
engagement objectives.

The Solution
The bold design and well-structured
information architecture provide a showcase for the Trust and is
aimed at attracting a new wider audience. Key messages delivered
include service information to help to educate the public about
emergency healthcare and the ambulance service, as well as
appealing messages to attract prospective new employees and
potential Trust members (for if and when the Trust achieves
Foundation Trust status). The site offers a range of new ways
for the Trust to engage with their website audiences.
An innovative ‘Major Incident’ feature allows
the Trust to instantly switch the homepage from the standard mode
to a pre-prepared Major Incident site homepage with sections of
information for the public, staff and health professionals, and
which can be instantly updated with latest news using the CMS.
Future planned developments include the provision of member
services through personalisation and engagement mechanisms.
The Results
The Trust has achieved efficiencies in website
maintenance achieved through the implementation of a content
management system, and has been able to devolve authorship of the
website across the organization. Website hits have increased by 44%
in the two months since the site was launched, with unique visitors
up 38% in the same period.
