Connect is delighted to be appointed to
deliver an innovative business system for the OneScotland Gazetteer
in a 3 year contract awarded by the Improvement Service and
National Gazetteer Board.
Funded by the Scottish Government, the
OneScotland Gazetteer is the definitive dataset containing the
address and location of every property in Scotland. It is compiled
from corporate address gazetteers created and maintained by each of
the 32 Scottish local authorities as part of the Improvement
Service’s national Customer First programme.
As a result of improvements to the British
Standard (BS7666) and increasing demands to widen access to the
OneScotland Gazetteer to support key initiatives such as
e-Planning, the production of Energy Performance Certificates and
the new National Entitlement Card Management System, it was
recognised that a new, innovative solution was required to host the
address information, as well as the complementary National Street
Gazetteer information for Scotland.
The system will provide an advanced capability
for the OneScotland Gazetteer Custodian, the 32 local authorities
and other partners to manage, develop and improve the data quality
and content of the OneScotland Gazetteer whilst at the same time
providing a broader and more flexible range of ways for existing
and future customers to access, use and integrate with the
OneScotland Gazetteer.
Carole Boardman, Director of Connect Internet Solutions, said
“We are extremely proud to be involved in such an important
national project. Having previously delivered the national Scottish
Assessors’ portal we have a wealth of experience and clear
understanding of the issues involved in providing large and complex
data management solutions. This experience, aligned with our
innovative approach for the OneScotland Gazetteer will offer real
flexibility and demonstrable business efficiencies for existing and
future gazetteer users”.
