Innovating to Help our Planet

Here at Connect, we believe that consideration for the environment should inform the decisions we take as a business, the way we work and the services we provide.

As the use of digital platforms continues to grow, so does the demand and consumption of energy to power them, such as water for cooling and electricity. Online platforms themselves can exacerbate the problem by demanding and using energy they don’t need, particularly if they’re designed inefficiently or rely upon ill-chosen technologies.

Connect is committed to acknowledging the role that we, as creators of websites and other digital tools, can play in helping our planet.

That’s why we created the Coding for a Greener Planet initiative. By pioneering this environmentally conscious Code of Practice we aim to ensure that the websites and online services we create are designed and built to reduce their carbon emissions.

What Does the Coding for a Greener Planet Badge Mean?

Whenever you see the Coding for a Greener Planet badge on a website it means:

  1. We built this site using green coding practices that have reduced the processing power and energy needed to operate the site, avoiding unwanted carbon emissions.
  2. We worked closely with the website owner(s) to increase their understanding of the environmental impact of choices they made for their website.

By being able to make more environmentally-informed decisions about their own digital services, combined with the impact of our green coding, our clients can help deliver their Carbon Reduction Plan and ensure that environmental considerations inform their future digital strategy.
