Connect | UK Government Investments

In late 2017, UK Government Investments (UKGI) appointed Connect to design and build its first independent website. UKGI provides independent finance and governance advice to government departments, working on some of its most complex commercial tasks.

Prior to launch, UK Government Investments hosted content on the GOV.UK platform. However, this approach did not meet the evolving needs of the team. A new, mobile-friendly website was required to document and promote the work of UKGI and deliver an online presence more compatible with its diverse range of public and private sector stakeholders.

An open source solution was sought to help widen audience engagement and to allow UKGI to develop the site over time.

The website is built on the WordPress platform, selected for its ease of use and scalability. To ensure a smooth transition to WordPress, we held training sessions with UKGI and provided valuable support and consultancy in the build up to go-live.

The site’s clean, focused design allows users to:

• Access information on asset realisations, the finance profession and corporate governance

• View case studies, press releases, vacancies and reports

• Submit Freedom of Information requests

• View board members and senior staff profiles

UKGI sought an experienced digital agency with Cyber Essentials and ISO 27001:2013 accreditation to provide a secure digital environment, and as this is a public-facing government website, visuals had to meet GDS Design Principles, with the goal of offering an accessible experience to all.

Hosting is delivered from our dedicated data centre, ensuring the operational environment is fully managed and maintained. Our comprehensive hosting services are trusted by the likes of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency, Serious Fraud Office and North West Ambulance Service.
